As you all know, people are afraid of all kinds of things: spiders, being in the open air, being enclosed in small spaces. Tell us about your biggest fear or phobia- rational or irrational. Just leave a comment below this post indicating your name.
I'm frightened of heights, above all when I'm on the top of a mountain. Although heights frighten me I like to keep on there. I think that if you won get to know the place where you are living, it's necessary to climb the mountains around you, from there you can come to understand some importants aspects of your culture and history, for example the interaction between people and their landscape. Finally, in my opinion be worth the effort of climbing a mountain and feel a bit afraid of heights.
I'm frightened too!! uff. Just a couple of things: "I like to be up there". ·" I think if you don't get to know...." "from there you can start understanding some important aspects of....." "In my opinion, it's worth the effort to..." Thanks a lot Josep!
I have a little phobia to crowded spaces. For instance, when I go shopping to a big center shopping like "Carrefour", I sometimes get a bit dizzy, seeing so many people walking from here to there. However I am not afraid of traveling by plane or another things like this, that allegedly seem more frightening.

Like Jose has said, I also have a little phobia to the crowded spaces, not in the supermarkets but in big concerts where all the people are dancing and jumping and don´t care if you are above them (this is because I'm very small and usually the rest of the people are taller and bigger than me) or if you can´t breathe properly. I have to say that unless I have this kind of phobia, I love going to concerts ;)
Hi, Just some expressions need correction: "little phobia to crowded places". " I have to say that even though I have this kind of phobia, I love going to concerts.."
I don't know if it's a phobia or something similar, but I can't see blood or wounds without getting sick, not only in real life, but in movies and pictures too, sometimes even I throw up or faint.
I´m fear of stumbling over something and to fall down when I go for a walk alone. Then I try to look at the floor while I'm walking. It has happened to me sometimes and fortunately there was someone to help me. Owing to a muscle weakness if I fall down I can’t stand up. Moreover, I’m afraid to get worse.
Hi, Just a couple of things need correction. "I fear that I can stumble over...." "Then I try to look down at the ground..." "Moreover, I fear that this is getting worse..." thanks a lot, Merche.
I am afraid of cats. I really don`t kow why, because I don' t have any bad experience with them or anything that I can remember, but I am frightened of them since my childhood . My best friend has two big cats, it' s crazy.... Anyway, when I visit her, she has to close them in the bathroom.... I don't feel so good because I can´t stand seeing them suffer. In fact, I love the animals, specially the dogs. But when I look them straight in the eyes I can´t avoid feeling panic!!!!!
Incredible phobia, right? Anyway, just a couple of things... "because I HAVEN'T HAD any bad experience... "She has to LOCK THEM UP in the bathroom..." " I love animals, ESPECIALLY dogs" " when I look AT them in the eyes I can't HELP feeling..."
I have little fears, but I don't consider them like phobias. As some mates, sometimes I feel a bit dizzy in big crowded places where you can't run away, however I like go to "mascletá" in Fallas. But, I think my real phobia are spiders, I have learnt to kill little spiders, but when I see a garden spider or simmilar my body starts to have spasms and I feel like a stupid dancer.
Me too! Anyway, a couple of things in here: " I don't consider AS BEING phobias". "however, I like GOING to "mascletá".. " or SOMETHING SIMILAR".. thanks a lot, Marisol
I'm afraid of snakes. Every time I see one, even on the TV, I can't avoid fell very bad and I have to go away quickly . I hate the way that they move and the sound that they make, It's horrifying!! I also have fear of heights, because I think I'm going to fall down and that make me fell a bit dizzy. I try to breathe and calm down, and sometimes I achieve it, and I can do things that scare me at first time.
Hi, Just a few things on your post, ok? " I can't HELP feeling very bad..." "I hate the way they move and the sound they make..." "I also have a fear FOR heights..." " and that makeS me FEEL. thanks for your post, Mª José
I have an irrational fear of every kind of birds. I HATE them, maybe is the way they open their wings, or could be their feathers, I don’t know, but I’m terrified when I see one of them. Even if it's a tiny bird I get a sudden shiver up my spine for some odd reason. Katia Fàrfan Gamarra Group 29
I’m afraid to stay locked in a room or in a house. I also hate someone put me under the water when I'm in a pool although we are playing. I don't have claustrophobia, but if I realize that a door can’t be opened, I get nervous. My mother has said to me that maybe this could be caused because I stay locked up in a bathroom when I was 4 or 5 in my grandmother’s house until my father explained me how I could open the door. Hi, A couple of things in your post. "I'm afraid to stay locked UP in a room..." "I hate BEING PUT or SUNK under the water "I GOT locked up in a bathroom when...." thanks!
I'm afraid of computer virus I have experienced panic attaks when my computer gets a virus. I'm not very good at technologies. It could be a mess. I don't control this things. I'm not sure what I have to do, so I close all the windows as fast as possible, and I start running a scan with norton. I'm afraid of losing all the folders, the work of several yars so I don't touch my computer for days when it gets a virus. Is it the same for you?
Well, I used to be afraid of driving cars. I didn't want to drive cars... I even spent around 5 years without driving a car. I don't know why... I have never been in a car accident. Now, I have to use it everyday and I'm not afraid anymore... It was hard but maybe fancing our fears is a great way to see them disappear.
As I told you at class, I'm afraid of flying. In fact, two years ago, my family and I went to Paris by train. It took us 12 hours but it was funny because we travelled in a train with beds, so we spent all night travelling and when we woke up, we were in Paris. I don't know why but I don't want to fly any more.
I'm also afraid of loads of people at a shopping center!! Just a few things: "I go shopping to a big shopping center.." "not afraid of travelling..." " or things like that.." thanks a lot, José!
